i am fed up of using blogger and heard that wordpress is more professional and SEO friendly. even after considering the limitaions like , unable to edit the CSS,no-3rd party scripts etc. i wanna move to wordpress and host it .i found a regional cheap hosting company and they promise 99.99% uptime .( everybody does promise, but a few server downs doesn't bother me). however i believe that when i host my wordpress blog, i will have maximum control of my WP blog. am i thinking correct? i have a few doubts and need help . 1. in the hosting plan , there is no aspect of domain registration, so even though i host my blog on a server , will my blog url will be name.wordpress.com? . 2. will i have maximum control on my blog , when i host it . i mean can i add 3-rd party Ads, scripts and customize my CSS ? 3. overall, do you think my idea is good or i should try the free version of WP for some time . ENDNOTE:- i just want to try WP , so all i want is the maximum control over my blog so that i can do almost anything . please suggest me
with most paid hosting services you can host your blog using your own domain name (i.e. yourdomain.com), and make whatever changes to it you want (as long as you stay within the host's acceptable use policy). Shared hosting plans are inexpensive, choose a provider that includes Wordpress in their package and offers a satisfaction guarantee and you should be fine.
Wordpress blog is of two type-- One is Wordpress.com, where you get subdomain like you. Wordpress.com and it is hosted on Wordpress.com. You will get full access to Wp-ADMIN panel. But you cant use FTP. You can't add ad. Second is Wordpress.org(self hosted) just like other php script, you can install it anywhere. Full access to wp-admin and you can also ftp your site. You can add ad. I suggest you to for Wordpress.org(self hosted). It is the best.
'm not bothered about the domain. i just want to know can i have full access to CSS and add other 3-rd party scripts
Most hosts offer an installation tool to automatically install Wordpress using the hosts control panel, usually called Fantastico or Installatron
yes, i am sure they have automatic wordpress installation and i've read the word fantastico .. BTW , will my blog have the domain name.wordpress.com?
No you will need to purchase a domain or one might come with the hosting provider's plans. You might be able to ask for a subdomain that the host can provide you with (example.hostdomain.com)
I don't know about the others but with a domain purchase you get free hosting included with the domain. You can forward or mask forward the domain to what ever url you want. WP will have their own host so there will probally always be some limitations. For 10 bucks you get total control. Name servers, scripts, hosting, the works.
