    Oh fuck fuck fuck.

So as you may know I am a total newbie to the forums but I am issuing a cry of help that I hope is heard around the forum.

MY NETWORK and BROWSERS have been hacked or hijacked or whatever the fuck you want to call it. I was browsing DP forum and looking at bidding on some sites. I clicked on a "Last Post" link next to the user name. And it linked to some advertisement. Now all i see on every page I try to load is a static image of this ad. In every browser i have. Cannot access email either. I even have a laptop on wireless. A totally seperate computer and THE SAME FUCKING AD came up when I tred to use it. I am now at my girfriends on hers.

Please. What the FUCK is going on? How can I prevent this from happening in the future. Please please help.

I'm only hear to learn how to make some internet income. now this. i am devasted...

    Please help.

Well I would love to install all of those things BUT I CANNOT ACCESS THE INTERNET AT ALL THROUGH MY COMPUTER. So i can't download anything!!!! I am at someone else's house right now.

I have contacted the DP Admin and I am somewhat scared to mention the users name. I don't want him comming after me. Obviously he's into some deep Blackhat shite.

Well you don't need to access the Internet to download McAffee Virus Protection or something like that. Buy it, scan all your files, and delete the virus or whatever that is messing with your browsers and connection. You could also re-install you browsers and see if anything happens.

Just make sure you get those downloads when you get back online and protect against further attacks.

Found out my roommate was actually messing with me and trying to prove his point -- that surfing the net without protection is simply dumb.

Guess it worked cause it freaked me out and I lost a days worth of design work when I resorted to "last known config"

    Oh, well. Lesson learned.

Again thanks for the advice. DP is surely the "nicest" of the webmaster forums. Not always as entertaining as WF, but that's a-okay

At least your roommate has sense!

A well known company set up a bare-bones, non-protected, honeytrap computer (I can't recall if it was a security company or a media one) - anyhoo, the computer was connected to the internet for 2 seconds before the first attempt was made to install some crap on it remotely.
