I'm making a forum (simple machines forum) and I'm using a free domain name from http://www.smartdots.com. And I just downloaded xampp and mysql 5.0.5, which one is better? I would like to know how to upload simple machines forum (smf) files to mysql or xampp. Can you please give me instruction how to do so? Please help me
Xampp is not recommeded to run on a server environment if you pay a visit to www.apachefriends.org forum to learn more. Xampp is for home computers running small servers either over Linux, Windows or Solaris. You need a more powerful distro for a server. My favorite is Apache 2.2.3 with CentOS 5 and you will obviously be able to run any forum script without hassle, although for a free solution I would better recommend myBB over SFM
