I started this site in April of this year using the MediaWiki package. It suited my needs and the goal of this site perfectly. I had no ads (adsense or anything) on it until about a month ago. I wanted to let content and traffic build up first. At this point I am in process of slowly easing Google Adsense into the site with the ad unit in the left sidebar. I realize this probably isn't the best place for the ads but I didn't want to start to get the ad units too close to the content because this site is supposed to be an informational resource that people can trust. I don't want to give it too much of a commercial sense... at least yet. In the one month with Adsense on it I've had over 9k impressions, but haven't seen very much revenue as of yet. I would be interested in everyone's thoughts on Adsense placement and integration on this site. Also, what other ways would you leverage this site for profit? Other ads? If you want more click with wiki pages, the best placement would be inside the content itself, surfer tends to click whatever link inside a wiki content during read up.
agreed.. or place the longer vertical one on your left.. it looks good though.. but between contents would make ur readers a bit annoying... IMO...
I agree, which is why I have been avoiding this as of now. I was looking for something a bit more creative. Anyone seen any good plugins for mediawiki ads?
