    Hello,

Firstly, I hope that this topic is in the correct location. I see PPC, and i see some people discussing CPM here so I am hoping I came to the right place. If not I apologize.

I have been searching for my answer and I have gotten my answer, I think, but I need someone to confirm this for me because apparently it is still unclear to me. CPM networks pay a said amount per 1000 impressions. Each impression is counted when the banner/image/(advertisement) is loaded on a page. Do these impressions have anything to do with unique IPs or does each load from each IP get counted?

    Here 2 models
    A)
    1,000 uniques per day.
CPM rate for one ad is $2
On average, each user goes through 25 pages (lets say this ad is on every page)
    1,000 uniques X 25 pages / 1000 = 25 CPMs = $50

    B)
    1,000 uniques per day.
CPM rate for one ad is $2
On average, each user goes through 25 pages.
    1,000 / 1,000 = 1 CPM = $2

So is A correct or B?

I am trying to figure out which is the best path for me to follow, I am rooting for A lol. I know this is a simple question but I can't find any source which clearly explains this. Thanks guys.

Its A which is correct one, However certain CPM Site sets restriction, they count only one IP per day (no pageloads and no impressions). Example Trafficrevenue.net

    Hi Learn2earn,

thanks for your reply. I don't like Trafficrevenue's way. I don't see why anyone would use them as far as CPM goes. What about the bigger networks like TribalFusion and Adbrite. Can you tell me how they count impressions?

it depends on the ad network they may count only one impression per IP
usually banners pay per impression while popups and popunders pay per unique ip beside you should know that many visitors especially the ones whi have FireFox browser have plugins that disable ads from viewing

Most of the larger banner networks pay 2 rates, with one being for 24 hr uniques that are shown ABF (above the fold) or they will also take multiple impressions from the same user, but rates are lower for the more times you send the same user per 24 hrs.

Some players will have 3 to 5 networks lined up in a chain and send only uniques.

    Hope it helps

The best way to ensure all of your impressions are monetized would be to use an ad management tool. The best one I have found is the Rubicon project and its free. Basically, what they do is take all of your ad tags, see which one will pay the highest for the impression and show that ad for that impression. I have increased my earnings for some of my sites by sometimes over 50%. http://www.rubiconproject.com/. They support ad tags for nearly all known (reliable) ad networks.
