Hello! I find that being listed on DMOZ is the most difficult thing I face. I wanted to have my travel agency listed on this website but I failed many times. Can you please give me any advice to get my site listed? It is about travel in Vietnam. Your help is really appreciated! Albert
The best advice anyone can give is to simply STOP trying. You've submitted, that is ALL you can do. Now focus on your site by improving it's content and by getting links by other methods...
I hope this does not mean you ignored the very clear instructions about multiple suggestions? DMOZ is not a listing service, and editors use many resources to build the directory. Suggestions from webmasters are no more than one resource that volunteers can use if they choose. Provided your site has not been blocked for spamming, your suggestion will be reviewed in time, but nobody can say when, or by whom.
Which site did you submit? Diud you read the requirements for unique content? http://www.vietnamsunrise.com/ http://manvutravel.com/ http://www.vietnamsunrisetravel.com/
Hi, Dmoz takes time to approve the link. You must also focus on few things to impress the editor of dmoz : a. Design should be unique, not from free templates. b. Use your company name as title. c. Go to relevant category, means the Country where are you from, then choose the city/town, the choose travel and then choose travel agent category and submit it with your company name. d. You must add your contact address in contact page with contact number. Then submit once with good description and forget. Only check your listing once in a month till six months. Then again apply.
Thank you very much for your kind advices. I will follow you and see what will happen. My original website is: www.vietnamsunrisetravel.com Other domain names point to the above one! Have a wonderful weekend! Albert
Hi, These are very useful tips. I will remember this. I tried a lot to get listed in dmoz. But I couldn't get success.
There are many many threads which answer this question, but here's the brief version: 1. All editors are volunteers. 2. DMOZ is not a listing service. 3. One of the activities volunteers might undertake is looking at site suggestions made by other people, but there are lots of other ways they can spend their editing time.1. + 2. + 3. = There is no time frame for review of suggested sites.
Free templates are not a problem. In fact, NO template should not be a problem. Even an ugly template should still be no issue. Your contact info only applies to the regional categories, and even then several still do not have it, making it more of a rule of thumb, granted, a pretty good rule of thumb, but a thumb rule all the same. However, even with those two points, it's still pretty good advice, as all of your points can certainly increase your chances of getting listed (regardless of whether or not you submitted your site).
