Please help me resolve this matter.

I came to this forum looking for a designer to alter a template. I found a link to this site (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=501145&highlight=templatesflow)
I purchase this template (http://www.templatesflow.com/demo/template/1301/) prior to purchasing this template I asked this company (via their live chat) if this template was widget ready, I was told that it was. I also discussed with them if they could customize the template, they said that they could and ask me what I want changed. I gave them all the information they said that they would get back to me on Monday.

When I installed the template a few hours later I discovered that the template was not widget ready so I sent them an email telling them cancel the order customizing the template because it wasn’t widget ready and to provide me a with the widget ready template.

Monday I spoke with them and again I told them I wanted the original template fixed, they agree to do so. But instead of fixing the original template they fixed the problems during the customization process. Yesterday I received a link to purchase the customize template but not a link to fixed original template.

I have been going back and forth with these people. My disagreement with them is that I’m not going to purchase anything else from them until they deliver the correct first template that I purchased from them. They feel that I should just buy their customize template because they fixed the problems during customization and take a loss on the first template. I have no way of knowing if they fixed the template or not since they won’t provide me with the original template in working order. The customize template is totally different from the original template so I don’t see how this is fair. I want what I paid for, if they can’t not deliver the product that I have already paid them for then I’m not going to purchase anything else from them.

I really would like to complete this transaction with them but I don’t this that this is fair to me. Am I wrong here?

Mods don't resolve scams or problems. They are not intermediaries. They just delete posts, give infractions, and ban people. Good luck.

A good tip when buying/selling or trading in DP is to check the user iTrader, not saying all newbies are scammers but it better be safe than having to regret later.

It is also advisable to pay via CC if you buying through paypal so that you can issue a chargeback if you don't get what you want and you leave the person a negative iTrader if you feel you have been cheated

    Hi

I don't want the mods to get involved, I would like to know what the fair thing to do is. I want to resolve this in a way thats fair to both parties. This company has just stated that this template is widget ready but it's not on my system.

"We have performed deep investigation due to your request on WordPress Template # 1301 functionality. We have stated that Template # 1301 was and is widget ready and we would like to provide you with steps to prove that.
To use widgets and all needed functionality of our template you will need to perform next operation. Please go to your WordPress folder and choose /theme/default/ folder. There you need to find function.php file and copy it to /theme/template1301 folder where you have our template placed.
This action will give all needed functionality to Template # 1301.
And now let me explain what for you have to do all these actions. When you install WordPress on your server it generates function.php and writes there its settings. The point is that different versions of WordPress are using different function.php files, so if we put some certain function.php file with our templates it will make them work only with some certain WordPress version. So we do not place function.php file there to make our templates work with maximum number of WordPress versions. Also every time when we sell WordPress template we provide our assistance in setting up a template on client’s webspace.
We have tested on our test domain un-customized Template # 1301 with ponnted steps and everything was working correctly and there were no issues submitted."

It is my understanding that no widget can work in wordpress without a function.php file. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
