I'm looking at starting my first real blog. it will cover all kinds of information, from posts intended to update the family about what's going on with me, posts explaining my opinions about topics my friends bring up, to just plain old ranting. i want an easy way to compose a single post and then make sure that only the people i want to see that post see it. this could entail having multiple blogs, or some other method...as long as it works. i'd like to open a dialog that i can come back with any questions that i have come up in the next few weeks if possible. I've looked at blogger and wordpress..and while they do the basic job, blogger is rather limited (and easy to setup) and wordpress is slow (typing posts online) and has a cumbersome interface. any suggestions to get me started? thanks, and merry christmas.
Buy domain and web hosting. Install the wordpress software. Here is a nice article about it: Build A Blog
Dude I can think you can do it with blogger - a limited restriction for people you want & other polls types of options are there, but for that you have to check out & see it in vast. or otherwise do spend some money for your discussion a among your friends
To start with, visit www.blogger.com . Whilst youre creating your own blog, you can pick up loads of tips here and get new ideas that are now available. Tell me if it helps.
thank you all for your replies, but im afraid i need a little more explicit help. i've already created test accounts at both blogger and wordpress. so far haven't been able to get it set up the way i described. i'm looking to be able to type my post online, then send it to the various accounts (family blog, friends, business...etc). i don't mind having separate account addresses. ie, familyblog.blogger.com and friendsblog@wordpress.com... but i haven't found a way to do that. maybe one could use tags to determine which blog a post shows up on, i just don't know. thanks again.
If you are planning to use it as a free domain you cant have anything better than blogger.com ; if you want to have your own host you will find wordpress the most powerful!
you can start off with wordpress free blog. but if your intent is to monetize it, i would suggest go for your own hosting. -dan
