    Hi all,
Please help me in selecting a domain name.

I want to know that using "FOR" in the domain looks professional ?

    for example this domain recipefor(dot)com.

    Thanks in advance

I think for goes fine as far as you name what the domain is good for.

In your example would be, recipeforDIABETIC(dot)com, recipeforHEALTH(dot)com, and so on.

However recipefor alone, simply says nothing at all, and adding (dot)com makes me believe that you are going to publish recipes to get figured out how to buy dot com domains.

    Well, that's IMHO.

    I agree with this...

It can work but not on it's own

The reson for using "FOR" in the domain is because all the related domains are gone. For example I have to work in the car rent business and want to register carforrent.com but it is not available so can I go for "carfor.com" and want to know that using "FOR" in the end of domain looks good or professional or not ?

Using For is not a problem at all unless you use it in akward forms.
Few websites that are succesful due to the keyword "keywordfor" in their domain name are:
    http://www.recipefor.com/ PR3
    http://www.carsforsale.com/ PR5
    http://www.gamefor.net/ PR3

And many more...There is nothing bad in using for if you want to get major traffic form the "keywordfor" word from search engines.

Yes the main purpose is getting traffic from the search engines.

and the exact match domain is gone.

    So for example

    homeloanforparents.com is gone so can I use homeloanfor.com ???

It actually depends on the keyword. If you manage to get a good keyword domain with "For" in it then it is really worth buying it but if there is no good keyword then its useless. Buying such long domains would worth only if they are good keywords.
