6 months ago I purchased the domain GayExecutive.com from buydomains.com. I have been working for months to develop the site as an online magazine about issues facing business professionals in the gay community. The site has received numerous relevant quality links such as: http://www.queercents.com http://www.dartmouth.edu/~csrc/students/diversity.html http://www.gayparentmag.com In the sites first PR update the site received a PR3 yet the site still ranks terribly even for uncompetitive terms - for example ‘gayexecutive’ the site ranks #31 - i know something is wrong when a site can’t even rank for it’s domain name but I can’t figure out what I did wrong. I appreciate any ideas or guidance you can provide – Thanks, Steven
Its because its gayyyy... jk I just couldn't help myself. Get it? Well anyway it is strange how you dont have better serps. You have a lot of inlinks and it seems the site is indexed fairly well. Does google have any policies about gay sites? Could that be it? Im not really sure to be honest. One thing is to give it more time. If you have only had it for 6 months you just might need to wait it out a bit more.
What is wrong with the existing content? It should be unique and I believe it is well written. I have tried to remove any wordpress archive links that might cause duplicate content problems. I just don’t understand how I am out ranked by a brand new wordpress blog with the default theme and 1 posting.
Your sitelinks from queercents.com are diluted and not exactly the anchor text you are looking for since it is your site name not your keyphrase. Diluted because there are 200 links on their home page and around 150 on all the other pages. You won't get much love for your link on pages like that. Sitelinks are good, in content links are needed too. The number 2 position is executivegaydating.com. They have about 800 backlinks and are about the same age as your domain. They don't have gay executive on their page but have executive gay 5 times (gay 11 times total) (executive 6 times total) in 786 words. They have no H1 and their title doesn't include the phrase but does include the words not in proximity to each other. So, I would look at their backlinks and see "what they are doing right" to get to the number two spot. (see sig for tool to get all their links analyzed). If you don't see anything they are doing better than you then I would say your link building has been filtered because they aren't in yahoo's directory, you are, both domains are relatively aged, and you have a more relevant domain name. You can help yourself some with on page seo but I think you will find your answer in their links. p.s. you may have duplicate content problems because I just noticed you have twice as many pages in MSN and Yahoo as you do indexed in Google.
