Hi Guys I took a lot of trouble getting this template and made a lot of changes to the template and the css of all the other components so that they all matched up.. It looks great - "On my computer" Unfortunately as people are signing up - I am getting a few that are not very pleased with the colors and design of the site - They don't feel its user friendly I can only see what it looks like on my machine can some of you please see what the site looks like on your comp and pass on the feedback - If its too dark on your site? (its supposed to be grey) - graphics look too big? - dont like the falling images on first page? Any and all feed back is much appreciated Thanks PS - Site is the first on in my sig link
Stupid annoying animations that make it look like a five year old's plaything - check. Contrast issues due to some content being too dark compared to the background? NO. It is not a problem, you have proper contrast for those colors. The problem is the ABSURDLY SMALL fixed fonts. Content should NOT be done in a fixed metric (px), anything below 12px is a total /FAIL/ for a lot of users, and I get 'twitchy' below 14px. Let me put it this way - I'm a large font user - imagine all the fonts on that page defaulting to 25% smaller than they currently are - that's what I see at default zoom. (yet another reason I badmouth garbage like 99.99% of phpBB themes) The header is indeed too large - you've got almost 500px of stuff in the header BEFORE you even GET to the damned page content. That's a total /FAIL/ at intarweb. since people go to websites for the content, NOT to have a header take up over half the page at 1024x768 (and the ENTIRE page at 800x600) You're design looks like it should be narrow enough for 800x600, but it isn't when you include the scrollbars... If you are making 800 friendly, MAKE it 800 friendly - if not, don't have 100px on each side 'wasted' at 1024. and frankly, AXE the STUPID ****ING flash advert and trim down the page elements, you've got a 305k website that by all appearances shouldn't even break the 100k mark.... and that's WITHOUT figuring in the bloated flash bullshit. ... and lean the damned thing down. You've got 2.5k of actual CONTENT on the page, with TWENTY SEVEN K of markup - Easily FOUR TIMES what's needed for that layout. Of course, being some crap joomla template with 196 validation errors, I don't even DARE look at the code. Trust me, you do NOT want to hear my opinion on that... XML prolog meaning hacking around IE in quirks mode (hence the rubbish conditional comment), 100k of bullshit javascript that adds ZERO functionality, nothing even RESEMBLING semantic markup, inlined presentation, inlined javascript, comment placement leading to major IE rendering bugs, Drug addiction, alcoholism, sadism, beastiality, mutilation, murder, vampirism, necrophilia, cannibalism, not to mention a gamut of sexual goodies. Shall I go on? ...and yes, I made that list without even having to open the source - I don't have to, it's a joomla template.
You gotta love how deathshadow puts things... Joomla really does have sloppy code. That's why I quit using it. You place one module in there and get 5 or 6 nested divs. Code is way bloated.
Thanks deathshadow I've made a huge change to the site - starting with the template, fonts, colors, NO animation... I'm sticking with joomla coz I prefer it...so besides that - any one have any thoughts?? PS - maybe deathshadow could give a little feedback and let me know if its any improvement from the first one Cheers
