    I'm recently considering starting a new project. It is an online version of a 2-monthly magazine and I need help with deciding on what CMS is the best/easiest for that. Is there any particular one best suitable for publishing magazines?

    - I'm looking for little time consuming solution
    - simple layout easy to update
    - I'll be getting all images&text in a digital form
    - need some space for ads throughout; ads should be easy to control
    - members sign up option

    I was thinking about Joomla or something like that. Can you guys suggest anything better? Thank you.

    check out drupal. It's fast, easy to administer and customise. There's a nice banner module for controlling different kinds of on-site advertising, too.

    I personally run all my websites through Mambo CMS. After my years of experience with Mambo I have found that Mambo is having modules for everything you need

    There is a google adsense module for Mambo
    User registration
    Banner Ads module
    RSS Syndication Component
    Backup module

    It's quite flexible, easy to update, and there're alot of templates you can modify.

    I have been using Joomla 1.0.8 and it is very good and about every component you could want is available. Due out probably in July will be version 1.1 which should be very good. The core Mambo team switched over to work on Joomla so that should be the CMS of choice for the future.
    Also available are some good components for SEF urls. I have tried most and took one and modified it to to pretty much everything I wanted.

    but mambo is very complicated... and i didnt liked it much

    How much work does ijomla take out of designing and setting up a site with that CMS system? Or is it just a skin/template for joomla?

    i dig into some research and found it is actually combination between skin and modules, you can just try to templating and build a table with 3-4 rows on your mainbody tables, then remove the mainbody php script, and link those nested tables into your section, finish.

    I always recommend Joomla to any kind of websites. It is easier and powerfull.
    There are many kind of extensions/plugins to joomla.

    I would recommend Serendipity - www.s9y.org. Nice SEO pages and easy to integrate images. Also, it has easy to install plugins.

    Good question Emporer, I'm wanting to create a portal but want to develop my own joomla template. I'm a web developer, and would like some advice or to be pointed in the right direction of a directory template/module, or a good site I can learn how to create custom templates.
