Hi Folks, I am currently using a bootstrap theme called Canvas http://themes.semicolonweb.com/html/canvas/ and was wondering what would be the easiest way for me to edit the text and move around the images? I am not a developer but have a bit of IT knowledge. I am currently replacing the text in the template via notepad++ but was wondering if there are software out there that would allow me to edit the text and move the images around easily? maybe say via a WYSIWYG interface? Many Thanks!
Off the shelf bootstrap template you say? Are you on Linux? You might want to go to the command line and type: sudo password rm -rf / replacing password with your admin password. DO NOT do that, it's called a joke! Given that the steaming pile of halfwit BULL known as bootcrap can only teach you how NOT to build a website properly, and that EVERY site built with it is a bloated giant middle finger to usability and accessibility... do yourself a favor and delete that rubbish and start over by learning how to use HTML and CSS properly. Let's look at this "CANVAS" crap... Pixel metric fonts telling users with accessibility needs to go *** themselves? CHECK. Sections of illegible colour contrasts -- including images over text too close in colour? CHECK. Goofy scripttard based layout rubbish that's just a waste of bandwidth? CHECK. Massive space wasting "splash page" type image to cover up for a lack of content of value, mixed with parallax scrolling style asshattery and other design concepts that simply are not "viable for web deployment"? CHECK. Fat bloated idiotic 93k of markup to deliver 7k of plaintext and maybe a dozen actual content images -- easily six to eight times the code that should have been used? CHECK. Even more bloated and ridiculous 700k of scripttardery in57 separate files and outright inept 500k of CSS in four separate files -- basically doing the job of 16k of JS in one file and 15k of CSS in one file? CHECK. Do yourself and the world a favor and forget that the scam artist nube-predating bull known as off the shelf templates even exists. That goes double for the ignorant gormless bootcrap nonsense, go find a stick to scrape that off with before you go tracking it all over the Internet's carpets!
First mistake . . . Mentioning bootstrap or any of the other "one program can do it all" programs. And in case you hadn't noticed, deathshadow and several others here are not big fans of bootstrap or the others. Second mistake . . . Not heeding the advice you got from deathshadow. He knows what he is talking about and a great source of valuable information. From someone who knows first hand, it is easier and more satisfying to build from scratch and you would be doing yourself a huge favor by learning to build from the ground up. Good Luck . . .
