Hi there.. Last night a webmaster I used 6 months ago logged into my godaddy account and transferred 3 domains out. These domains are very important to me. When I contacted Godaddy they said that because the transfer was initiated from my account there is nothing they can do about it and they recommended I should seek legal advice. Godaddy seem to think that this is not there problem. I have found the webmasters details i just need to know what steps you would recommend I take to resolve this. Sam
If he is using the domains send a formal cease & desist order. Please post his details here. You could always bluff and threaten legal action, but it'd be pointless for 3 domains unless they have a really high value.
First thought is, he knew your password logged in and did it. Thats pretty hard to take action against in the court of law. (It would have to get deeper) I would try and work it out with the person that did it since you know who it was. There has to be a reason?
Well I found who did it through WHOIS.. I can't believe he left his details in there including phone number. It turns out that it was a webmaster I used 6 months ago for my main website.. I sent him a pretty long e-mail asking for it back "nicely" and made a few phone calls pestering him. Lets see what happens.. Sam
http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/legal_agreements/show_doc.asp?pageid=REG_SA I've dealt with this numerous times in my previous registrar life. A reason that we normally tell people we don't get involved in civil disputes like this is that we might make the wrong decision and end up being held liable for it, and that has occurred. Sorry to read what happened to you, though. Good luck.
