Please have a look. How to get to top from #4 for keywords

Hello all, I would like some strong advice on how to get my site to the top 2 from position #4 for my keywords "lolita glasses". I've been building links steadily for awhile, while working on on-page seo and from google webmaster tools. I feel my links are better than competitors so I am not sure why I am not out ranking them in the serps other than they have been around longer and they have keywords in their URL which is lame but effective. Should I keep on keepin' on or do I need to do something different? Any tips would be great! :)

    Site is in my sig.

Just keep building some quality links and don't over do it on the anchor text. Try and make it look as natural as possible.

Your site is a really beautiful well-made one - so congrats on that!

Having the keyword in the URL is really important, so domains that have focused on that will get a pay-off. Having Lolita Glasses in your site title would have helped too. On-page seo carries a lot of weight.

What you can do though is create a page with lolita glasses in the url - something like ww.glasswaredreams.com/lolitaglasses (with lolitaglasses all one word). Title the page "History of Lolita Glasses" and provide some background to Lolita Glasses - how the company was founded etc etc etc. Make sure that page links to back your homepage with the anchor text "lolita glasses", and have another link on the history page anchored on something like "visit our lolita glassware store" .

Then put a do-follow link to that page in the information section of your home page on the right hand side, and anchor it on the phrase "History of Lolita Glasses".

This way you have at least one page with Lolita Glasses in the url and title. Then build a ton of links to that page.

You should then go though all the pages of your site and add the phrase "Lolita glasses" somewhere on them. I had a look on your martini glass page, and you had the phrase "Lolita", "Lolita Healy" and "Lolita signature gift box" - but I doubt people searching for Lolita glasses would ever put any of those three phrases in the search engine (those searching for "lolita" are looking for the famous novel). There was no mention of lolita glasses anywhere on that page, or in the page title or url.

Basically, you need to have every keyword you want to rank for somewhere on a page of your site. "lolita glasses" doesn't need to be mentioned more than once or twice per page, but it needs to be on every page. It's not enough for the incoming link to be anchored on the keyword, the keyword needs to be on the page as well.

    Hope this helps.

P.S. have a look at the following article from market samurai on the value of having your main keyword somewhere in your url:

Yah, most of us feel that our links are better, but who is the judge? Google, not us, so keep building

Maybe you should get some boot camp help.

Check the back links of your competitors and try to get back links on some similar places as they have and also keep on working with the off page techniques you are already doing.
