I recently created my own forum called decentdiscussions.com

it is using phpbb software, The thing I want to know is that I have 5GB Space & 100GB bandwidth available, I want to know that how long I can run a forum based on these available spaces?

Do forums take lots of hosting space? If I get more members and as soon as they start postings will my 5GB space fill up very quickly? or I can use 5GB space for Millions of posts?

I am not allowing attachments in the posts to save the disk space, because I am not sure if 5GB space is too much for a forum or it is very less?

Regarding the bandwidth I know forums take lots of bandwidth but 100GB is enough or I need lots of more bandwidth?

    Please guide me.

    Thanks

Yes, 5gb space is too much for new forum, its not easy to get much members to fill this 5gb space. Also 100gb is good too. You will only use 1-5gb per month. So, don't worry about all these yet. Just concentrate on traffic :)

Good Luck with New Forum. :)

Both the bandwidth and space you have got is enough for your forum, You can also limit user upload spaces and for spiders you can set up a light template to save bandwidth. If you get good traffic and in condition it shows a consumption exceeding 100GB you can upgrade the bandwidth :) But I think the specifications you provided will give you a long run.

    I see :)

I am happy and feeling relaxed to know that my space and bandwidth is not very little... I can host forum on these spaces for a long time.

Thank you for your guidance. Really appreciate it.

First, you can always check how much space you left in cpanel. ;) I'll tell you my experiance - my forum is about 20.000 messages, allowed attachments, db is about 250mb (if you compress and download, its about 3mb :D), and the attachments dont go over 150mb. You can limit your attachments size of course, that should save you space, but dont disallow them.
