If you are in College and aren't competing in a sport on that level against other players on that level you most likely will not become a professional.
This is mostly due to time and experiencing competing against other high level players.

It isn't impossible and there are certain exceptions to the rule. However, it is less than likely you are going to start training with other non competitive players and find yourself magically better than the highly competitive all star college players who are on the brink of becoming a professional rookie.

I hate being a dream crusher but.... You play soccer/football for years to try out for the middle school team. You then play on the middle school team for years hoping to make it on the Freshman highschool team. You then spend years to make it to "Varsity". Then you DREAM about playing at the college level. The very few who get to do so will then go on to DREAM about becoming a professional. Then there are those who become professional rookies and a high percentage of them are cut pre-season, during the season or after the first season. Those who become famous, wealthy, and live a prosperous life of a sports legend are even rare among accomplished pros. Accomplished pros are rare among pros. I think you get it....... I just don't think someone who is already in college and NOT playing competitively on that level is going to realistically start training and become a professional player who is able to generate enough money to retire young.

As a side story... I have a friend who was drafted in to the NY Giants (real football). His entire life from the age of 5 was dedicated to american football. He was a star athlete his entire life. He got to live out his dream when he was drafted in to the NY Giants. He played for 1 season before he was cut. His total in field play time was something like a minute. He made good money too....but not nearly enough to retire on. Since he devoted his entire life to his dream his bounce back to a professional career took a longer time than most. Which made his NFL $$$ mediocre pay when looking at the time frame. But..........he played for the Giants none the less..

One day we will all eat our words when ESPN announces the all star futball player on the year, "L. Hector". We will all drop our jaws to the floor in astonishment that at age 38 he became the first rookie to make history with the most goals in a single game and retired at age 42 with a life time endorsement deal with Fifa and a cover shot for their Fifa '39 XBox9 game. We will literally be left humiliated as we tune in weekly to MoroccoTV to watch his reality hit Keeping Up With The Hectors. The embarrassment will be on us as we record the documentary on his legendary life, "Lost. But Found. Never Forgotten.". We will share stories how back in the day we had no idea that video games that promote fantasy was the only true way to gain the necessary experience to become...an all star. "Lost Hector: The musical play.". hah

You will NEVER be football player.

    You will NEVER be rich.

In fact, unless you get to work and QUIT making EXCUSES, you will NEVER go anywhere in life.
