Please give me a Font suggestion for a website.

    Hello,
yesterday I uploaded a new design for Linkrain (a Web Directory).

The design came with Times new roman font. I asked for feedback about the design and a DP user told me to change the font style.

I changed it to "Tahoma" but it's actually not convincing me...

What font would you suggest me to use for that website?

Any tip would be appreciated :)

I use Tahoma pretty much all the time as it is by far the best looking default font you can use.

I guess you could try non-default fonts such as "Trebuchet MS" and use fonts such as Tahoma, Verdana and Arial as fallbacks.

It depends on where the font will be used, really. If it's a heading, I'd go with a serif font like Georgia, Garamond, Times New Roman, or Times. If it's for the main page text, I'd go with a sans-serif font like Lucida Grande, Tahoma, Verdana, Arial or Helvetica.

Obviously that's for Web pages - print I'd reverse the order since serifs are easier to read on page copy when printed than on the Web (where sans-serif fonts reign supreme).

We have no control over this, unfortunately. We're limited by what fonts are available on the operating systems, which is limited as well because so many of the fonts are proprietary and belong to the companies that make those operating systems. Then you have other companies that own fonts as well (like Adobe) and individuals who create their own fonts for sale.
