Hello i'm using the googles keyword tool from the web tool box page and i'm a little unsure of doing this before i start wasting time on words that can't help me.

I have a brief idea, here is what i do, change the results to "phrase" i then type in my selection of keywords and then search for medium advertiser competition.

Now my problem is this, which numbers are worth going after.

Then how do i check that phrase in the organic window and what is the competition of results that is worth targeting, i heard under 2 000 000 was worthwhile, this seems high.

Can someone give me a really good keyword tool working example with numbers, cheers DP

    James

First off - you want exact match not phrase.
What you think is worth pursuing as a keyword, depends on too many variables for someone to give you a definitive answer.
The first thing to take on board is that if you get the no.1 organic spot, you should expect to get 40% of the available traffic. For lower positions the percentage drops incrementally very sharply. So you need to evaluate how reasonable it is to expect to come in at the top position, or if the volume of available traffic is sufficiently high for you to be content to pick up some crumbs from simply being on the first page.
