I am in a so called "high paying" adsense market namely "weight loss". The site is a PR4. So far today I have had 8 clicks for ..... 15c! Eeek! Is this normal? I have tried chitika but the CTR has been much lower as people are looking more for information and not really to purchase products. Is there anyway for a publisher like myself to ensure the CPC increases? Any ideas? 8 clicks for 15c does not cut it, that imho should be way over $1.
What keywords are you putting into the chitika code? Exercise equipment or weight loss? High paying markets are subjective and even so, it's "luck of the draw" many times on what ads you can get to display. For example, if "lemon law illinois" is an alleged higher adword, that doesn't mean every AS displayed is going to be worth $20.
I just had 16 clicks for 15 cents, I just took it off and put YPN on it, might come back to it in a week or so.
weight loss, lose weight, diet etc They were all displaying products (for chitika). Not really what the users are after as they came for information - so adsense is getting a much better conversion rate, but damn... not paying all that much issit?
My adsense payout has plummited the last few days. Same number of impressions and clicks, but payout has been cut by 60% or so. I've been using adsense for over 2 years and it is not often I see such a drastic change when I am providing the same impressions for them. So perhaps something has changed on their end? No way for us to ever know. I would hang in there... see if things improve over the next week. Someone may be targeting your site with a cheap CPM campaign...
You might try alternate keywords for your chitika and then simply run channels so you can better track efficacy; like health food, exercise equipment, etc - maybe the "weight loss" has bottomed out until after the holiday bulge?
Remember with the "smart pricing", the conversion rate also matters, though we're not sure how. Google probably tracks the clicks from users, and see whether the users ended up buying things or not.
Go to adwords.google.com to find exactly what weight-loss words pay more, and then jam those words down Google's throat on your webpage.
