    Hi
i would appreciate some help regarding servers

I understand that there are shared servers and that you can host lots of sites for a very small price on a shared server.

I also understand that Huge corporations may have their own dedicated server on their own premises

So my question is what is there in between regarding web hosting servers.
    Is there another level ?

I would appreciate your input here

There is Shared, VPS / semi-dedicated, and Dedicated Servers

Shared, as you know it, all users share the server memory and cpu. (say 500 users)
VPS or semi-dedicated are similar and you are allocated with your own memory and divden of CPU usage but however you are still with other users. (say 5 users)
Dedicated is where you own every aspect of the server from memory, cpu to connection of server as a whole. (1 user, which is you, and you are the king of THE server)
    - Dedi Rent: normal dedicated server you rent from a provider. All is provided by the provider, server, memory, hardware, connection, etc...
    - Dedi colocation: you ship orhand in your built server and rent the connection

VPS's are good for starter webmasters/developers. They are cheap too :)

While you can assume that you can "place lots of web sites on shared accounts for very little cost" you will more than likely get your account suspended for hogging server resources.

shared and vps are for "beginners" and small websites
dedicated servers are for bigger things...
