As you all are aware of the tragic disaster which struck in South East Asia and the death - toll has already exceeded 150,000 people. Let us make an effort of helping the poor victims by donating for their welfare. Watch out for the damn scammers... people all over the net are stealing donations. Only donate through a well known organization.
We had another close call here in Penang Island, Malaysia. Earthquakes few days ago and even yesterday. On Dec 26 the tsunami hit the beach 5 mins walk from my house (across my road actually). Thankfully we did not get hit by another tsunami... sadly the folks at Nias Island, Indonesia have not been so fortunate. I think we should turn our attention to Africa. People are swept along by the media coverage about the Tsunami, but thousands of children are dying every week in Africa. I think the Tsunami appeal has collected enough to help people get back on their feet, while people in Africa have seen a fall in donations to their cause. It reminds me of when an aeroplane crashes, people are swept along by the media coverage into thinking planes are not safe, but thousands of people are killed every day on our roads, but yet the coverage is limited so people are not aware of the more dangerous forms of transport. Just my take!
I thought all of the official appeals had closed now? I think Fryman's right, though scamming money off of people hit by a disaster is about as low as you can get, you may as well go and rob the bodies.
