No my own personal life is unaffected by it, but that is not the case with the thousands of Iraqi and American familys affected by all the many deaths of loved ones in this bullshit invasion.

Back in 1990 (Gulf War 1, the one where father Bush failed miserably) I was in the British Army in Germany sir, my unit got the call but I was still allowed to leave. That was the best thing that ever happened to me, because war is fucking stupid and killing is stupid and the only reason I joined our shitty army was so I didn't need to bother with looking for a job immediately after leaving school at 16 years old. So I did 4 and a half years and was treated like a prick by idiots for the duration.
Now I am successful and self employed and do not have to put up with all the bullshit I did then.

I answer to nobody.

I'm just concerned with all the death mate, it's unneccisary (sic) and could have been avoided. We've lost around 120 servicemen and women in that hellhole too.

Not to mention Afghanistan, but that's another story.

That pretty much sums it up. In America, we join the armed services to SERVE OUR COUNTRY and PROTECT OUR FREEDOMS. Joining for any other reason is no reason to join. Every single enlisted man and women knows full well what they are getting themselves into when they enlist. They may actually have to fight in a war. That's part of the deal.

People with your attitude lack integrity and will never command respect.

 

I think you'll find lots of people join the US army because they have no other career prospects.

Heres an interesting fact about a recent war:

256 British servicemen died in the 1982 Falklands war, but since then over 100 of the surviving veterans have commited suicide.

This is the real sacrifice people make to join the armed forces.

The same figure would be true for the Vietnam war if the US Government didnt try its best not to measure the shocking stats.

The amazing thing (here in America anyway) that over shadows the doom and gloom are how many Vietnam War veterans over came the war to achieve great things. There is a long list of them from all walks of life. You'd be surprised.

So many more chose to overcome adversity and at all odds move forward and do something positive with their lives and experiences, instead of playing the blame game.

 

You have to be of sound mind and body to join the Army. The fact that they took part in a war is what explains the extremely high suicide rate of war veterans.

Yes in genereal people do lots of amazing things with their lives. But an extremely high percentage of war veterans commit suicide.
