    I have seen several threads where people are questioning the phrases “just build content” or “put hundreds of pages of content and the traffic will come”

    As a newbie, I can see where that advice can get old. Speaking for the newbie’s we might not have enough knowledge or experience to get that much content out.

    Can the experienced and successful talk about how they define content. Is it?

    * Hundreds of useful thought provoking pages that are well composed

    * Hundreds of pages of short paragraphs emphasizing your keywords

    * A combination of both

    * Of these, which strategy more successful?

    Are there good examples of what I described or am I missing the mark.

    IMO the story moves around 200 word articles with about 10 keywords. :)

    Build the sites to please the users. If they are giong to your site to learn about something the write all you can about it.

    There is no special way to do this. Just write unique content that can interest your target audience.

    Content isn't always an article. In fact it doesn't even have to be words. Download.com has thousands of html pages full of content, but their content isn't words, it's programs. istockphoto's main schtick is images. Google's main content is search results. Content is something people might want. Be creative.
