I would say overall your placements are ok.

Your dog-training links look like the normal site navigation so should get a lot of clicks, but keep in mind they might bounce quickly as its not what they expect. Perhaps put a "landing page" between your site and the sites your affiliating for, to explain to the user. This might get you a higher conversion rate.

Also try and get a script in place that hides your affiliate links. Something like http://www.site.com/link/obedience-training/ could be the link which automatically forwards to your affiliates - this will help get your click throughs up.

Throw some affiliate and astore links into the copy of your articles.

With the aStore link it doesn't stand out very well. Why not show a few pictures of the products in your aStore or use the aStore widget to do it automatically.

Get some more copy on that first page of your aStore, that will help search engine listings!

It does not stand out. Try a different color or font and put some available books on your homepage. Amazon have a widget for that. I would place it on the top of the first sidebar , above "Dog Food Books".

The overall look of your site is a nice, clean look. Keep it that way and good luck.
