I have been trying to build up this site for over a year now but am still not getting any decent traffic. The idea is for it to be a general discussions site covering a wide range of topics. People can then meet each other in a social network environment. I am using the groups in the site to try to drive traffic but I am not sure if they are just poorly designed. You don't have any links, however I think that you do have some traffic since you have an alexa ranking, and whilst it is not brilliant, it isn't too bad either. Design wise the site is really nice looking. You need to build backlinks, or get the people who are members of your site to promote it for you.
I have 21k members and about 1,500 uniques a day. I need to ramp this up though but dont know where to start. I have no idea how to get the members to share links.
You could get them to use social media, to tweet about the site, share links on facebook, that sort of thing. That's a decent amount of traffic - how did you manage to build that up, without knowing anything about SEO or social media?!! You can also build links through article marketing, which is writing articles, and posting them to directories, and those articles link back to your site.
