I just started my first large site this past Dec. My new site is http://www.findsomearticles.com/. Since I am very new to SEO, I'm not really sure how well I've implemented my site. Any advice or criticism would be greatly appreciated! 1.So for I've tried to implement different meta tags and meta descriptions for all of my pages. 2.I've tried to remove any duplicate content. 3.I've also set .htaccess to 302 redirect all http://findsomearticles.com -> http://www.findsomearticles.com 4.I've posted some of my articles on digg, reddit, stumbleupon, etc. Google appears to be indexing my site frequently and adding more pages every few days. in google: site:http://www.findsomearticles.com - yields 9,260 results. I so far have around 140,000 pages on the site. Does anyone know how long it may take google (If ever!) to include all of my pages in the index? Thanks in advance for any advice!
First thing you should consider doing is rewording your title to something with the target keywords in the beginning. Instead of "Findsomearticles.com - Find Some Articles on many subjects: news, business, education, debt consolidation, religion, technology", (which is also entirely too long), switch it to something with your main keyword towards the beginning, like "Free Articles About blah blah blah....." Keep it 50-60 characters. Start there, and I'm sure more people will chime in with more advice!
You probably want to use no follow on the contact info in the footer. Also use one of the many sitemap generators and submit it to google, it wouldn't hurt to put it in the footer either. That should help you to speed up getting your site indexed. At the moment around 9,500 pages are being indexed, so you may also want to look for inter linking opportunities. (E.g find a page you want indexed/to rank highly, then find the keyword/phrase you want it to rank for then do a search like : site:http://www.findsomearticles.com/ key phrase here, then just change that text to a link to the targetted page.) If you want some extra traffic, it might be worth stumbling some of the more popular articles on the site and using other social bookmarking sites to get some extra backlinks.
Thanks! I've started to implement your suggestions. Shortened my title and added rel="nofollow" to my contact link.
You're missing some basic details that should be added to your meta tags... This may or may not help, just a brain fart.... <meta name="distribution" content="Global"> <meta name="rating" content="Safe For Kids"> <meta name="copyright" content="Copyright © 2008 JVF Consulting, LLC.
