Hi everyone, I started a forum about two and half months ago and so far it all seems to be going very well in terms of paid advertising, content etc etc, but I am really lacking in SEO and I have been reading and reading for sometime now but i just cant seem to get my head around what keywords I should be using for my forum, and basically which ones are likely to get me somewhere near page 1-2 in the search results. So I am looking for anyones advice please on what would be the best keywords and seo for my site which is http://www.4ums.com So if anyone can come up with any advice I would be very very greatful. Thanks and look forward to your replies (Admin and Mods, I hope I have posted this in the correct place if not could you kindly move it for me, thanks)
OK to add a little incentive to this then as knowone seems interested in helping someone out, I will offer some cash as well if this is done right. Please if I knew I would someone out, and this is meant to be a community
Use this list and add other similar words from the google keyword tool: forums, discussion forum, discussion board, free forums, online forums, general forums, forum posts, best forums, how to make money, make easy money, make easy money, make extra money, webmaster forum, game forum, gaming forums, poker forum, poker forums, etc. If you need any further help, let us know.
Hi, If your looking for a basic understanding of SEO, rather than just giving you a list maybe a couple of baisc tips might help, that way in the future if you ammend your stratergy, begin to rank on your chosen SEO words you can add new ones accordingly. Firstly i would think about who is likely to vidit your website or who you want to visit it. What words would they type into a search engine when looking? Often the google suggest tool will help with this ( the little drop down box when you type a search in) One you have found the general searches then go about thinking of the different versions of these, such as plurals, different orders e.g seo forum, forum on seo, seo forums and so on. I usaully store this ongoing information onto an excel document so that over time i keep a clear record and acan see ammendments. Hoep this is of some help.
well, select your self the best word that describe your forum. then, add them. and if those keywords matches your description well google, you will see good changes in ur google rankings.
but, keep in mind that if your with tough competition you may not see much difference only using that as a tool. u have to resort to other means like article marketing and stuff. but my advice is if your forum is working fine, there is nothing for u to worry. you will get backlinks and content (which google love) slowly.
Thanks everyone for your advice, its was only realy the keywords where I was struggling as I am doing very well with all other types of SEO, I have aready got myself a very large list of dofollow backlinks etc which I looked up and created myself so there is not much competition with these and not many outgoing links. I also got a good list of .edu and .gov pages and backlinks as high as PR7 but most are around the 4-5-6 ranks which are still very good as I understand. So thanks for the keywords advice i really think that was my downpoint but as I get more search engine juice and get a better PR then I should list well with all of my chosen keywords so fingers crossed, and lets keep this backlink list growing stronger.
