I have just updated my directory ranking criteria and would love to hear your comments. Thanks in advance.

amitpatel_3001 I receive quite a few request for inclusion. Please email me if you meet the following How to Get Listed as One of the "Best Web Directories"
very efficient, there has to be rating for directories to ensure appropriate selection by the end user,
Oh i noticed that the main home page pr matter most of the time but the weird thing is that my site has 2 pr one has pr 2 with no www and same site has pr1 with www. So now how will you give weightage and to which link ?
Those criteria are pretty much in the order I would put them, too. Although I might actually put dupe content at the top of the negative factors, because that indicates a directory that could be close to getting booted from SE's. The whole Dmoz clone thing, for instance. One thing I'm surprised not to see in your criteria is listings quality. From a visitor's point of view, a ton of low-quality links is less useful than 10 or 20 good sites in a subcategory. There are some directories out there that will take all comers, some which only accept the best, and many in between. The only trouble with this criteria is that people have different opinions as to which of these extremes makes for the best directory.
Thanks for your valid comments Obelia I guess I do take into account the quality of the listings but mostly in the older, established directories. I agree that not all the sites are useful. On the other hand, a directory that is too picky and rejects too many sites is not useful for most people. I also look at it as, if I am going to spend 10 minutes of my valuable time submitting to this directory then I want to have a reasonable chance of getting my sites approved.
I agree. I think any directory that verges towards either extreme, either hopelessly picky or free-for-all, isn't going to produce the best results for anyone. Keeping track of this one is difficult, since editors and editorial policy tend to be in a constant state of change anyhow.
For me personally, it's about quality, not quantity. What's the % of people here that you think are just trying to make a fast buck or two ? 95%-98%? Rob
