I have been told that the pictures on my website need to be optimized and I'm planning to do that. No one has mentioned the Scrabble Ozzie Logo that I'm using. I'm wondering if it is also a problem that contributes to slow loading of my site.

I would appreciate it if you have the time to take a look and comment. This logo was a gift from a friend so I would love to keep it but only if it isn't a site problem. Thanks. :)

    Hi Ozzie,

yes 132Kb is a bit heavy for a logo. I managed to get it down to 50Kb but then you lose some colour!

70K and you get to keep the blue: [IMG]

I visited your site Ozzie and it wasn't a problem at all for me. However, in all fairness to those on dial-up connections, I am on a broadband connection.

As for your Scrabble logo, it's 131k in size and frankly, I don't see you being able to optimize that any since it's animated. Your site really isn't loaded with a lot of images and I'd hate to see you lose that logo as well. It's cool! :)

hooperman beat me in posting! He did a GREAT job in cutting down the size of your animated logo!

Thank you both for your comments and your help.

How can the size of the logo be cut down yet the size looks about the same? This is something that I don't understand at all!

You can compress images using graphics applications like Fireworks (and other Adobe apps). The more you compress, the more the image quality degrades, but sometimes you can get the file size down whilst still retaining satisfactory quality.

    It's voodoo magic :)

Damn - loaded with blink of eye. I am not sure what your visitors use (dialup/high-speed/t1-t3). I am on T3 right now and it was literally blink of eye and your site loaded.

It's a lot for a logo, to be honest. Eventhough it loaded very fast for me as well. I'm on a 5mbit dsl connection.

I use Fireworks and imageready to optimize my logos. Check out this page for a speed report on your site.

    good luck.

No animation isn't necessary but I think it's what makes the logo especially nice. :)

Right click on image and select the "save picture as.." option from dropdown menu and save it to your computer drive.:)

Please don't do pointless animations, if you want a scrabble logo make a static image.

Thank you, I think it's great. How do I get this on my site? I know I can use the tessafun url but couldn't that go down at any point and I'd lose my design, er your design?

Again, I think it is very good and I like it. :)
