I understand they have to become aware of the fraud but google dosent exactly have someone at the end of every email you send them, chances are you report them sites your email wont even be read. I advertise myself with fastclick and interclick ive been refunded for fraud clicks once for $2.19 wow. An advertiser possibly loses $3 a month on fraud clicks, hardly anything to care about.

    Iam with adwords,aclickcent.

aclickcent showed me today 857 clicks and charged me only for 83 clicks.

Won't comment on that, you've made quite an impact since joining DP!

The problem is that advertisers pay per click for advertising. In return they expect people to visit their site for a reason - now, they may find the site doesn't do what they want so they leave, but when they arrived they did so for a reason.

If you just click on the ad because you want to support a site, how does that benefit the advertiser? Not at all, because you probably don't even glance at the site. They have no hope of benefiting, even though they've just incurred a cost.

Google definately pays attention to ToS violation reports. Take the example of that one site who used bright arrows with "Click Here" and only had 3 AdSense ads on his site together with hidden content.

Once his site got noticed in the webmaster community I'm betting that more than a few people reported him, and a week later his site was banned.

But I am noticing a lot of issues with accidental clicks etc etc. I mean it seems to me that the advertiser ought to realize that sometimes people might accidentally just click on an ad. Its not the end of the world. I mean ok if someone chronically did this it would be a problem.

To me it seems no different than paying someone to hand out flyers and then walking by a garbage can near your store and finding all the flyers tossed in there. That's one thing. But even if a person just clicks on a ad to support a site they are still getting exposed to a site they would not otherwise. On top of that just the ad being there is advertising?

Playing devils advocate but just curious.

there is a difference between an accidental click and a fraudulent click.

and the person who dumps the flyers gets disciplined too. I had a women come round the other day who wanted to check what junk mail I'd had delivered - and she went through the paper recycling to check. She was legit (I checked) and we had a quite a laugh as she actually knew all about my daughter and the crush she had on a classmate!

So, fraud is fraud, crime is crime, whether isn't in the clicks world or the bricks world.

thing is, Google know the IP of each person who clicks so if you click on ads too frequently they'll know to penalise the visitor, not the site. After all the ads are often the same and why would someone click on the same ad over and over. They weren't born yesterday!

Not the problem is if you have these "please clilck on ads" sites you get perhaps 10% of people really interested in the product/service. The rest just click to help their site and couldn't give a damn.

This means the advertiser gets no return on his investment. And is fact losing money.

What's to stop an administrator from PMing people to just click on the ads. I am not being a smart ass, I don't know how this stuff works. I mean I guess its just weird to me. You put up a bill board and people see it. You don't charge for how many people actually stop and say "Hey look at that billboard"

Anyway thanks for the information. I am zoning out. Must.....have.....sleep....

Ok its fraud so people shouldnt do it, ive never done it i just dont care much if other people do it. But most the people who click ads dont have a clue that clicking ads earns the webmaster of that site money, i didnt know untill i got into webdesign, if all visitors knew then knowone would click the "click here to get a free ipod" sh*t you see everywhere. I think having "click this ad it will help support our site" is wrong but just please click this ad i think should be allowed.
I chat crap anyway so its not worth taking into account my opinions.
