I bought some sitewides and links before and just checked some of them have been deleted. Some has continously charged for monthly and featured listings are gone. This is not nice. I am checking all the links as much as I can.

I found Find It Fred has charged me since February but my links wasn't there. Will post some more if I find some.

Thanks for the heads-up Jude. I'll do the same now. As I lost my data regarding all those directories I bought links from before the update--I am usually depending on my memory now (which is indeed very bad).

I am keeping another database for this time around and am verifying my links every other day.:)

I did not check backlinks for my directory in a long time now.
And I have 160,000  (those are sitewides, of course :p )
Will do now, and report if someone removed them

That is nice attempt, i was looking for such thread desparately, it's really hard when you are running a number of directories and promoting them all like everything. I will be posting reports here very soon.

Jhnrang, you may want to try our new link checker software. There is a free 30 day demo, and I can give you a DP discount. It is designed to provide tracking for situations just like this :)

This is big problem a promoter can face I am aware of that i am taking some good steps to prevent this.

Make a excel sheet of all links you are purchasing with coloums like.

    Url where u puchased link
Type of link u purchased i mean sitewide etc....
    Price u are paying
Time of link i mean permanent etc...
Seller information if he is DP member note down his id
    Date u purchased link
And most important note his Paypal ID

Check all links u have purchased say once in 10 to 15 days

I have purchased links worth $1k for E Internet Index and i have noted all information.

I make a non-indexable web page for the links I sell on each site I sell them for. I guess I will have to make a page or an spreadsheet for the links I bought now. It seems like that finditfred site is very familiar. Can't remember if I bought a link there or not.

That's very nice JMort732. I guess you could explain more how does it work. I'll take a look into it. Send me a PM of how it works. Thanks.

That is true for most of us as we have bought links not only sitewides but as regular and featured links as well.

    Thanks

That is also a nice idea. Thanks.
One comment though if you spent 1k in your backlinks maybe some of us would now be more worried as we have spent like 8-10k now. :(

I am very sorry Malcolm if I cancelled the subscription. I am trying to go for some other ways to save. Sorry about that. I was trying to work my monthly subscriptions out and looking for value. Nothing personal.

Popo - I saw something a while back, about one guy selling links yearly when it's not even his site.. he'd buy the links for a month and run.. I'd watch out. In the meantime i'll look at mine.

    Rootbinbash,
I don't want to hijack this thread, but I do want to answer your question, I will PM you.

    In regards to links:
I have found that about 10% of my links go missing. Most of the time it is an innocent mistake and people quickly correct it :)

That is the same case with two guys who had a Reciprocal links, I exchagned.

    Those two guys said sorry.
    1) My site got hacked and I lost the data. (Reasonable answer)
    2) the F***er says, Oh I don't even remember.

    3) I gave hosting for back links and was nice to give him Sponsored links.
-- That guy moved his site and took off my links, but was enjoying Sponsored links on my directories.

Some of them are good but kind of lost on that.

    Some are real crooks.

It makes me think, I don't want to exchagne links or buy them.

One guy sold me signature link for $15.00/link. and he sold the remaining links to other members and never posted after that.

That is a ruthless Bast***. (Shame on you theaf)
I know for a fact you are still stealing from other members...
