Guy approached me for link exchange with his PR6 directory The low backlinks reported by yahoo alerted me and I have checked with the tools here http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/013352.html and 2 of them showed it as fake the other 2 did not show anything. How can you actually know if a PR has been faked ? I decided not to give the URL in this thread (since I don't want to accuse someone if I am not sure he is using fake PR) but if you PM me and I will send you the site in question to check for yourself. Thanks
PM me the URL i ll let you know .. or just check if the google cache matches with the actual website ...
PMs send @the stealthy One are you saying that fake PR are is a myth, what are your reasons if you say so.
No, I'm just asking. This is the first I've heard of being able to fake PR, and I'd like to know what everyone is talking about.
RECEP pm send BigBadWolf please can you explain in a little more details on how one can check fake PR ? (what you explained on the PM but in a little more detail) Thanks
Could it be that the site was a high PR site but then was sold not used for a while and then it changed owner and the new owner succeded to get the PR to 6 with just a few links ? I checked with a way back machine and url exists since some time in 2002 and it was again some sort of directory ....
To check if the PR is real or Fake The site in question : http://www.topdirectory.com/ Google's cache of this site : http://72.14.253.104/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=cache:http://www.topdirectory.com/&hl=en As the site in google's cache is the same as the site in question hence the PR is not faked... If the PR was faked the google cache of the site in question would have shown some other URL ... Hope that helps
BTW, I've seen the site which had its own page in google's cache which presumably had faked PR. I can't be 100% sure, and even if it was really fake, such domains are exceedingly rare.
