yes the domain is not good for forums you must use .com or .org or any thing like that. It will surely help in SEO of your forum.

You can not compete with giants like DP and WF, but you should find your niche to make it more attractive. Just try to find out the topic which is not used in another forums and position yourself to that topic.

I agree about the colour theme comment above, it has no personality, nobody will remember it when they revisit, could be the starter template. Also needs some content, Im a firm believer that you should create discussion boards as the traffic dictates, i.e. just one to start with, If that gets busy split the most talked about subject into its own board. One of my boards has 2 million posts, and that started of as a single board.
