Hi Everyone, I recently added a flash video (virtual greeter) to my website, as well as a flash music player that plays background music as the virtual greeter is speaking. I shortened the music clip from over 8 minutes to just 1 1/2 minutes so it loads quicker. On my computer the load time is very fast, but someone else recently told me it took very long for the web page to finish loading on their computer. So I was wondering if you all can give me feedback about the load time of the video and music when you first click on my website link: http://musicmefree.com, whether it is too slow and annoying, or loads quickly and is not annoying. Thank you very much.
they must be on a dial up connection or something for it to be that slow, seemed fine for me, it had played the video for 2 seconds, and it had streamed nearly 50 seconds Thanks Haynes11
I Haynes11. Are you saying it took only 2 seconds for the video to load and then the video started playing? If so, that is fast. That is what it does on my computer. Someone else opened my website on ther fast all-in-one computer (they have dsl) but it took very long for everything to download. That is why I was concerned. Thanks for letting me know.
Loads and plays perfectly fine MusicMeFree.com however to answer your question as to whether it is needed I would have to say yes as it gives a good description as to what you are all about. However I do think there is far to much content on your home page, it looks cluttered. The Add to Favourites I would get rid of on the main page and perhaps make a new section for that. Just a extra few thoughts on the site, hope it helps and is taken as constructive criticism Regards mercuryR
Hi MercuryR. Thanks for the feedback. I have been back and forth in times past as far as simplfying my home page. But when I make changes and get rid of a lot of text my website drops off the first page of Google search results for my primary keyword which my website is currently in position 3 on page 1 for a keyword that gets almost 100,000 searches a month in the free Google search results (sorry for thr run on sentence). So when I make changes on my home page my site drops way down, so then I put all the "clutter" back up, and my website moves back up. So I am sort of stuck keeping it cluttered if I want good placement. But maybe I can try it again and see what happens. I have more backlinks at this time so if the backlinks are strong enough it can keep my page in good position even if there is not much text on the main page. After all, websites like bodybuilding com have first placement for the term bodybuilding and yet their home page is very simple and the word bodybuilding is hardly mentioned. As for the Save to favorites button that is there for people who see the site and want to browse it later and don't have time right now and might forget the name and not know how to save the site to their favorotes manually. So they have the option of clicking on the save to favorites button. But maybe i can experiment.
