    You might want to read up on basic website design. There is no border, no color change,,,, nothing to define the background from the content.

    Off whites work better then a solid white.

    No images, no videos, no podcast,,,,,,,,, nothing but some text and a white background.

    The site needs a lot of content, and a lot of work on the colors.

    Yes you need a header. Looks spammy.
    You need content and color work. Everything is blended together. There are no outlines or border to split things up.

    Content > ads. You seem to be too focused on ads and Adsense. Start focusing on getting content and traffic first. Then put the Adsense and banners back up there.
    Only thing I can say is good placement of the RSS and search =]

    Some really simple yet effective IM websites that many people know about:
    Blog Tyrant, ProBlogger, and CopyBlogger
