    Hi guys,

I just registered this domain, and I am hoping for some opinions as it is my first IDN domain.

rzeszów is the name of a city in poland, as well as a university (Which is in that city). The keyword gets over 33K exact searches in poland, and the total grows if you consider other countries too.

I know generally people love .edu backlinks, so I thought there could be some great potential in this one - was I wrong?

people love .edu backlinks not .edu.ccTLD backlinks which is a big difference.
Where did you register this domain? I assume it is a free domain, if so its value is $0
If not, its value is reg fee.

Even with a university being in that city, with that name?

even that, because I am sure that university already have a site.
But I think that domain is free, just like edu.ms so don't even think to sell it anywhere :p

    jgman,
I posted this on a thread with a similar topic....maybe it will help you:

Just thought I would chime in with my 2 cents....

Edu.xx are a type of edu, much like an ac.uk is a British version of an edu...I mean seriously would you turn down a link a from Cambridge (PR9), King's College (PR8) or Oxford University (PR9) because they are not a real Edu? You probably wouldn't if you were sane and knew anything about backlinks.

So are Edu.xx..... edu? Yes, they are but only in the most basic sense....as "real" edu hold their value because they are aged for example Harvard, Purdue, Princeton all have Edu domains that have close to 25+ years on the Internet. In addition, they have thousands if not millions of backlinks pointing to their domain....thus they are authoritative. Your brand new edu.xx is a clean slate.

Would I recommend buying an edu.xx? Well you can't buy an EDU anymore....so my guess is that eventually you won't be able to buy an edu.xx either....so if you want to plan for the future...it may be a prudent investment. Additionally, the way I use my Edu (both EDU and Edu.xx) is that I raise their PR and then give myself in niche do follow backlinks...so eventually they become authoritative backlinks to my money sites. I have found that while it is possible to increase the PR of an Edu.xx it certainly is more difficult then raising a blog, guestbook or some other webpage on a EDU...but if you have the patience and lots of other high PR backlinks to send to it....an edu.xx could be a positive asset.

    And......

The suffix .pl signifies Poland, such as .uk is United Kingdom, .co is Colombia and .ca is Canada....now lets take China. The suffix for China is .cn, so educational facilities in China use .edu.cn....here are some examples.... PR8 Peking University (http://english.pku.edu.cn/), PR8 Zhejiang University (http://www.zju.edu.cn/) and PR9 Fudan University (http://fudan.edu.cn/).....All are universities using a country specific variation of the US dominated Edu domain.

An edu.pl using the "normal rules" would signify an education facility in Poland....like Poland today, in the US before 1999 anyone could register an EDU domain and that is why there are a few grandfathered EDUs that are not universities such as mindless.edu, america.edu, england.edu, atlantis.edu, and world.edu. One of the best examples I can site is academia.edu, which someone is trying to turn into the Facebook of professors and its up to PR7! So edu domains were nothing special a little over 10 years ago as anyone with a credit card and internet connection could register one.

So would I recommend buying an edu.pl domain? Sure for the novelty.....because sooner or later Poland will have to close the loophole that allows anyone to register....and who knows with enough work and money your xxxx.edu.pl could rise to quasi-legitimacy like academia.edu.

It will work eventually I guess but the value of the link juice buyers will glean from the links you intend to sell wont be much for a while longer yet. Other Polish EDU sites like the Warsaw University site ( in polish its www.uniwersytetwarszawski.edu.pl/ ) are a PR8.. Now that would be worth having!!
