    Hi DMOZ Gurus,

Could you please have a look at this site and perform a short analysis - what this site needs to get listed in DMOZ and which category suits best?

    URL:tripspirit.com

What it already has is - absolutely unique content, completely noncommercial, useful interesting info (at least i hope so :) ).

    Thank you in advance :)

Are you sure your content is unique? http://copyscape.com seems to disagree.

Not saying it isn't unique, just asking. ;)

All the pages listed in copyscape are polling the RSS feeds of tripspirit.com.

I am absolutely sure that this content is unique, because it is being written by hand. It is based on the information in Internet, but each sentence is written by a human.

Of course and who else would.

Are those travel articles written by you personally ? Research and more research but most of all content for surfers not aimed primarily for the pocket.

btw very few edited directories would not even include that one even if it pays.

All articles are written by a team of content creators. The work conditions are set up so that there is no chance to copy even a single sentence from an existing source on the Internet. There is only a possibility of casual coincidences in rare sentences.

What do you mean: "Research and more research but most of all content for surfers not aimed primarily for the pocket.". Sorry, I did not quite understand what you wanted to say.

Actually almost all dirs that are receiving the submission of this site have accepted it. There are about 1300 of those.

Much of the language is so bizzare that it renders the articles unreadable. I tell you were you went wrong, you hired a team of "content creaters" rather that authors who are knowledgeable about the the topic.

The actual combinations of the text might be unique but this is a poor rehash of information on the web soley for the purposes of providing search engine fodder.

You original question was what "needs else to get approved in DMOZ". You need to delete all of the articles, fire your "content creators", hire some authors who actually are experts and post some articles that a real person might be interested in reading.

Ok, understood, the content seems to be absolutely un-interesting.
Are there any examples for me to understand which information would be worth reading? Maybe other sites or even links to single articles.
    Thank you in advance.

It is un-interesting really and no offense meant. :)

If travel is your subject write some content what people really needs to know. Fresh content examples like airport inspections in the US and how they go through with custom inspections or specific travel plans or new places as there are outdated DMOZ listings with regards to places or events.
Research as I have said. :)

Good luck with getting your site listed.

If I was an ODP editor (and I am :) ) I would be weary. I would need to know exactly which category you are submitting to and the title and description to work it out further.

Some directories have huge backlogs, and whats more your site could be getting passed around between editors at the moment for someone to work out where it belongs.

I would suggest you need to make the front page more specific about the subject matter and then submit to a category as accuratley as possible.

Then go through similar categories and get a feel for the title and descriptions, this is one of the most important parts. Dont give the editor any reason to skip to the next site, just give them reasons to insert.

    Hope that helps

Yes, that is actually the main problem, sure - what category to choose.
Because the thematic of the site is "Travel" and if you land at Travel in DMOZ - the best choice is probably "Publications/Magazines_and_E-zines/"
The title and description - :) - maybe we start laughing with "TripSpirit" and "Articles about the most beautiful and worth-visiting destinations, cities, countries and places of the world. Frequent updates, rss-feeds for all categories."

Tripspirit is right for the title.

The category you are talking about will be stacked, try to get more specific. Or make yourself comfortable coz your in for a wait.

I think I would delete the site if it came infront of me, but if it escaped that because I did not look carefully i would probably send it off to Recreation: Travel: Guides and Directories for them to delete it.

Okay, it seems to be that the main page is combined in that way that would make an editor throw the site away.
What is wrong with it? What seems to be excess and what would you miss there?

Were the articles written by by somebody who's first language is English?

I'm frankly puzzled by sentences such as There are magnificent discos, beaches and cinnamon girls-mulattoes on the island. because they seem alien. The grammar is fine but the choice of adjectives and the juxtapositions are weird. Then there are words such as rastamanity, where the meaning is clear but I doubt if they appear in any dictionary. Google has only 4 other hits for rastamanity (soon to be 5 I guess).

I got the feeling that I was on the end of some kind of Turing test :).

Okay, English is a problem, I see... A native writer or at least editor needed, understood.
What would you say about the root page? What seems to be obviously wrong?
