Please advise on how to earn through advertisements on my site?

    i am totally new to websites.i want to earn money by displaying advertisements on my site,but am doing so for the 1st time.i have a wordpress(3.2) site,hosted by hostgator.

    please advise me on the following points.

    1. i know what pay per click and affiliate programs are,through which one earns.


    Now is there a system of displaying a company's ad(say Nokia's ad) on my site,and charge them on a monthly basis?

    2. How do sites like Yahoo charge these companies which advertise on their site?Do they charge on monthly basis?

    I don't see google adsense ads or affiliate program ads on yahoo & facebook sites.So how do they earn in millions through ads?

    Yahoo is a multi billion company, so they have their own direct advertisers, they show their own advertisers ads.

    If you can do hard work to finding people who may want to advertise in your site, than you can also start getting direct advertiser and accept their ads in your site, but if you cannot than you are depend on other sites such as google, or any other bigger or smaller sites.

    There are different ad options available such as for ppc google adsense, you can find image ads also in there and you should get ads related to your site, and there are CPM and CPV (Popup) network also, it all depends which one you like and in which one you can earn good money.

    yes i have already placed a link on my site named "advertise with us".this has a form where an advertiser can fill it out and send it to me ,if he is interested in advertising on my site.

    1. so can i charge the company which approaches me through this form,on monthly basis?

    2. Or pay per click strategy is applied even when companies approach me directly?

    3. if i charge on monthly basis,how much can i charge the company which approaches me?

    Please give me a rough idea,to start with.

    My site is informative type,based on blogs and forums.

    I want to earn very very highly.That is my ambition.So please reply accordingly.
