Hi, I'm targeted to get a list at 1st page of search result. I have just created HTML page few days ago. I have named it as keyword like "this-is-a-keyword.html" I have around 30 backlinks (now) to this page, I build a link to this page around 2-10 links / day. My site has around 200 backlinks to main page There are 560,000 search result found for this keyword. Today, this page is placed at 27th page How could I improve my rank to get better position? please advise
Got a link for us? What are you trying to optimize? The only useful information in your thread is that there are only 560,000 serps for the term in question. This is typically a cake walk. Nigel
Sigh it angers me to see people saying that the number of search results matters. It does not! Regardless of how many results there are, you are only competing with the top 10 - 20 websites at most. If you are not on the 1st page you likely won't get sufficient traffic. The websites who couldn't reach page 1 or 2 are poorly optimized and are not serious competitors. It doesn't matter how many junk blogs happened to mention those keywords in a post 4 years ago. naruponk, if you are only on page 27, you have a lot of work to do. You need to work at building a lot more links, especially ones from high quality websites. If you are just getting 2 - 10 low quality links per day, it may take a year or two to get to page 1. If the search term only has 560,000 results, I'd be surprised if it has much search volume. You should check that keyword on a keyword tool: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
I follow your point. The first thing I typically wind up telling people they are targeting the wrong terms in the first place. That can't exactly be addressed in this case as we have no idea what he is doing. Nigel
Without knowing your URL or keyword, it's hard to say, but 560k results is nothing... you should be able to rank in the #1-3 spots for that with no problem at all. One of my blogs regularly ranks on the first page with results of over 17+ million, and that's just me publishing my posts.
You need to build more back links so depending on your keywords half a million as stated is on the low end of but it depends on the demand. 2-10 links a day is not enough as you need to ramp that up to at least 20 a day by yourself and promote so that others are linking to you.
What keywords are you trying to get listed? what is your site address? are them results broad results or are they in "commas" Have you optimized you on-site SEO? If not here is a free tool to do that http://www.w3optimizer.com/ , Fergal
