Please Advise - Moving up the Affiliate Chain

Background: I have designed websites and been successful in affiliate programs and SEM. I would like to climb up one link and offer setting up affiliate programs for related businesses, but I don't know where to begin.

Do I start my own company and manage the whole process individually, or is there a way for me to setup, manage and help multiple clients and get them started on a affiliate program where I can earn money, any advice, thanks bob

p.s., these would be small businesses where I would personally sell them starting an affiliate program in a targeted co-op type business. I need to keep costs down while helping them get their products/services in an affiliate program, please let me know what you think or advise, thanks bob

    I have two ideas:

A: Offer something like budget management. Where people would come to you and you would help them manage their budget on PPC or link building and create an affiliate scheme that works for them. You could charge a percentage of their earnings.

B: There are tons of high-traffic websites that aren't being monetized just because the webmaster considers it like a hobby and never thought about making money, you could help these webmasters by offering them your services (helping them choose affiliate programs, etc).

The whole idea is one of creating a network of folks that want to be a co-op to my idea. They all help pay me (for the setup and perhaps a percentage of the program I set up), because selling them individually would be too costly for them to think about, and difficult at this point in time.

I would be their "online marketing person" in English, and give all the support I could, webpages, seo, etc.. (some total package, but really more focused on their success than mine -- mine will come with theirs).

I just think there are many businesses out there, even in the us, that could use the added benifit of having Bob seo their site, but also create an affiliate program and help them run it, in a honest fashion. I don't want to take advantage of them, this might be their first time run working with a program like this.

The real questions are, can I do it, yes I think I can. But I need your advice, is there an affiliate software package where I could run multiple clients/sites and have some synergy to lower costs?

Could I for example, go to five business owners and say, "Hey, I have the skill, can I create a affiliate program to help sell your products." I could provide the SEO on their website as an added benefit, but the biggest benefit to the target would be untapped products made by local people, or tours, who knows, that they might not be able to tap. Sorry to ramble, you get the point, am i loco?

You are basically talking about becoming an advertising agency. Some affiliate networks have modules so that you would be able to manage all of your clients from one login.

Yes, there are people doing it. Good luck with it.

    Hi celrus,

You are basically talking about becoming an outsourced affiliate manager. There are many companies out there that do this and I refer out to most of the top ones, so know their pricing and business models.

It's very lucrative and in-demand however you need to BE an affiliate manager and mange lots of programs successfully before you should even think about it.
There is MUCH more to managing programs than you realize and it sounds like you have lots to learn before you try this.

you also should never do it on a % of sales basis because it takes time to build up a program and you won't be able to build one if you don't know how. Most good AM's charge merchants $3,000 - 6,000 a month for management and they REALLY need to know their stuff.

Maybe you should try to get a job as an entry level AM for a company so you can learn the ropes.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
