Steps on tow to find a good host:
#1 - Don't buy cheap one (you get what you pay for)
    #2 - Read reviews: www.webhostingtalk.com
    #3 - Don't buy yearly option :)

    ---

My warm recommendation is www.liquidweb.com (we have their dedicated server... super fast). Don't know about shared packages though.

    I second that!

If you're looking for basic cheap hosting www.dynadot.com is pretty decent too :)

There are many reliable hosts out there. But, before i even suggest you something can i know what kind of problems you have had with your previous host?

I would still search deeper about the company (that you will pick) to know better. Make a short list of web hosting's that meet your needs (budged and package specifications), then e-mail them a pre-sales e-mail asking them most important things for you (your web site).

I like GoDaddy.com for hosting and yearly domain renewal they charge me about $100.00 a year per site, $49 per year for hosting and $49 per year domain renewal.

I know this is a suggestion thread, but please, STAY AWAY from 1and1.com

Awful customer service + slow speed = 1and1.com
