    What are your current bottle necks in performance? If you can elaborate I
    can help you with exact tools for the job. Otherwise I'm in the dark.

    Some tools worth mentioning are:

    systat
    vmstat
    top or htop
    slabtop

    I'm using tomcat with apache and mysql. My bottlenecks are disk IO operations and sometimes cpu

    Then you need to upgrade to SATA drives, or even SSD. Then, upgrade to a better processor / motherboard that supports better processors.
