planning to make a directory website,

    can anyone suggest some free packages for directory, from the open source which i can edit according to my plans.

    please provide me the urls, but i don't want to buy any thing, just the free ones. thanks:)

    Another vote for PHPLD. If you hack it up a bit, you can make it do pretty much anything you want.

    Yup! PhpLD is a good one. You can also easily download a nice template for a design that you prefer. :D

    I would recommend forking out $25 and getting the paid version of PHPLD, the features are really good and worth far more than the asking price.

    Yes phpLD is best for directory IMO. Easy to install and manage links there. There are so many free templates available for its versions like v2.0, v2.1, v3.06 and v3.1

    Its your first time with making any directory then go for free phpld script v2.0. You can get it here.

    Depends on how much effort and time you put into it mate, done properly there is a hell of a lot you can profit from directories. Tip: dont focus on making money, focus on providing a quality directory that the end user would enjoy browsing. Add as many features as you can to make it unique.

    The money will come naturally...
