    hey i'm planning to get a name which would be a very high profile name in english. Will be something like healthinsurance.com but healthinsurance would be in pinyin (phonetic alphabet for simplified chinese). Is this the best way to make a domain targeted at china?

    note i'll be purchasing the .com .cn and .com.cn names.

    health = jiankang
    insurance = baoxian

    You can buy .cn, .com.cn from all Chinese hosting companies. but so far as I know there is no english panel from domain management. http://www.edong.com is a big hosting company in Shanghai. You may give them a call for help.

    International Domain name. You actually type chinese character in the URL bar and the browser will translate it to Punycode

    now not much ppl using it but that will be the future, why bother translating it to pinyin when you can type chinese in URL bar.

    IE 6 doesn't support it but IE7 and firefox support it.
