Ok in a nutshell I have a site I launched a while back but I'm noticing people are having a hard time remembering the name. My current name is a 3 part name (rather keep private from open forum but willing to pm). Im planning on changing it to a 2 part name.

My site is currently being reconstructed and wanted to re launch with the new name depending on the advise I get from you guys. Heres the stats:

    My cuurent domain:
    Created on: 04-Dec-04
    Page Rank 3
    Backlinks:
Google links 17 Indexed websites 3570
Yahoo links 618 Indexed websites 9497

Domain im planning to switch to
    Created on: 13-Oct-06
    Page Rank 0
    Currently no backlinks, links etc...

I know im giving up some linkage and 2 years in domain registration but the name I have planned will relate to the updated site better and its much catchier. On the flip side wouldnt want to loose seo.

Thanks in advance for any advise. Domain names can be pm'd if need be.

Yes I can do a re direct but from what I've read the redirect wont pass my PR and also my backlinks will be lost. Am I right?

If you use permanently redirect (code 301) you will not lose PR and IBL.

You can read more about this in this article:
