Placing relevant ads?

    My website topic is on a very specific area of budget travel, for example hitchhiking, camping, using hospitality exchanges etc. basically I am teaching people how NOT to spend money on travelling, and yes I know this is not the best audience for advertising but there are still some ads that would suit my topic. Such a camping equipment, budget flights, and so on. But I keep getting ads about hotels, luxury cruises, all this kind of stuff that my readers are not going to be interested in what-so-ever. Also kind of makes my website looks bad when I am telling people NOT to spend money on hotels and right next to that advice is an ad for hotels...

    Is there anything I can do about this? Otherwise I think I am going to have to stop using adsense :(

    @Dan03 what you can do is you can place a code around the content you don't want the AdSense bot to crawl. In a couple days your ads will readjust to the content you want to be crawled.

    <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

    Content you don't want to be crawled goes here...

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    I'd only allow to crawl the content that has plenty of keywords in it, like: cheap, inexpensive, frugal, budget, etc.

    Hmm, so I would let the bot only crawl a few words of the article? Even so, I don't have any words at all relating to property in dubai or buying a private yacht. Why am I getting these ads in the first place?

    For a couple of reasons: One, they are relatively close to your content, two, the highest AdWords bidder gets his/her ad out more often. So if somebody from Dubai spends $3-$5 per click, obviously they will get the highest exposure on the sites that talk about travel. And actually, that's why some people like those odd balls, because most of the time they are pretty profitable.

    I honestly do not know all the dynamics as to how the bot crawls stuff, but from what I understand it is looking for key words and key phrases to determine what ads to spit out next time around.
