Places where you can create websites?

Does anyone have a list of good ones that are like Weebly and Wix that let you create a website hosted with them for free?

 

Jimdo is another one like that.

Then there are the traditional blogging platforms like Blogger and Wordpress.com.

In the end though, I would recommend looking into paid hosting for your sites. The problem with those free ones is that you don't have full control over the site, and things like advertising are often restricted. Not to mention they can shut you down at any time with no notice. Spending a few dollars a month on hosting is really worth it for most people.

It's not really that hard to get started, as all of the good hosting providers have one-click Wordpress installs that make it easy to get your site up. And you can generally have multiple sites on one account.

 

WordPress & Blogger are pretty good. Of course if you have your own domain, Wordpress is a MUST! It's much easier when you create a blog than a normal website, otherwise you should know some html, css and maybe PHP too!

 

The only thing to say – if you're even a bit serious with your blog – is that you should invest just a little bit of money to your blog and it will pay off. In few years you probably want to monetize your blog, do well in SERP's etc. and free hosting services like Wordpress.com are very limited in these actions.

As was said above, it's super easy to register with a web host that offer one-click installs for Wordpress. Wordpress COS(Content management system) is also very easy to use even for a beginner.

.. oh, and you don't have to have any coding skills with Wordpress. You can get along just fine without knowing how to write a single line of code.

But If you need to be careful about these sites. Not all of these are post once and forget ever type. There are lots of web 2 sites which remove sites when you don't login or stay inactive more than a month or 2. I made a this mistake for a while before realizing the waste of time and content.
