Everyone was amazed how my 2-days-old website got over 10k uniques so quickly. (Here's the thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=88026 )

Well, the secret is that there are websites on the net for the simple purpose of showing fresh new links to people every day. I'll list here a few of them. No direct links for obvious reasons.

    1. Digg.com - well you all know this one, just thought of mentioning it.

    2. Leenks.com - use the submit thing on the left of the page. You can submit all kind of stuff that can be considered interesting. Also accepts adult sites. Your submission is not guaranteed to be listed. In fact, it's highly unlikely (my success rate was of 1 in 10). However - it is guaranteed if you pay about $30/link. Number of visitors you can expect: 3k-15k, depending on the subject.

    3. Madville.com - need to create account and submit a link. I had a 5 in 10 acceptance rate. They also have some paid service. Number of visitors you can expect: a few hundreds, but links are also published on other websites so in total you may get well over 1k.

    4. Fark.com - it's pretty hard to make it on the front page without paying, however all links submitted are available to fark paying members and if you got a good one you can expect many hundreds of visitors. If you make it on the front page, you could expect over 1k.

    5. CollegeHumor.com - same as with Fark, however if you make it on the front page you can expect 15k-35k uniques or even more. I haven't got any link approved recently though. They must be getting very tough on link submission because they also offer a paid service for it. But that is extremely expensive.

    6. Big forums, such as:
    - ebaumsworld (expect about 1k uniques, redundant traffic for quite a while)
    - forums.offtopic.com (expect few hundreds everytime the thread rises above the rest, that will happen only briefly as it has millions of users)

    7. Try your luck with big blogs, such as attu.blogspot.com. Send an email with your link. Who knows? They also get paid submissions, for a reasonable price. Expect 10k-15k uniques from Attu's blog.

    8. Other websites: di-links.com, in4mador.com

I have never paid for my submissions, but will take in consideration for the future. Especially the leenks website and attu's blog which come with reasonable prices and good traffic.

Remember, use these if you have interesting stuff only and do everything in moderation!

    Good luck!
    Mihai

PS If you know other "spamable" websites, be kind and share. :)

Looks strange to me that some people actually wait until their site gets noticed. I usually follow my main referrers until I can find a source to profit from with other websites. :)

Well they cover anything under the "interesting" category: news, images, blog posts. Even better: image galleries, funny videos, weird stuff, unique stuff. Browse around and have a look at what's already posted on those sites.

If you have a gimmick, "bored" sites (google it) work well too.

well, from what I can read from the above, you must be posting for technology or for people who are bored. If you want to promote an interesting website with intelligent stuff, none of the above will really help (except if you write about technology then digg will help).

I haven't check 2 and 3 but would assume it's approximately the same.

Smart tech stuff would apply for leenks.com and madville.com. Tech news work well on Fark too. Maybe others as well. You can't tell unless you gave it a shot.

Can this kind of traffic be monetized though?

it's not totally targeted but still, if you're offering something interesting people will browse around. I managed to obtain about $11 from adsense and $4.50 from CPM advertising within 5 days before I sold it. It's not that bad.. :)

Leenks.com is advertising own links, seems like those rows that change got same links within it every day... HARD to believe, many of those links is crappy affiliate pages, so it should be as easy for everyone to get a link on leenks.com.
But somehow they remain same day to day... Or that site owner is a very lucky guy, inspect the quality of the sites announcing there...

So leenks.com's webmaster saying you have poor quality thats why you dont get a link on their front page, thats bullshit there are several crappy links giving a lot of money

Dude, the site I've been talking about in the 1st post got listed there and it was me who submitted the link. Also, I've found them after another web page that belongs to me featured there. Traffic quality may be pretty poor, but it works and that's what this thread was supposed to show.

I followed all these, to the letter.

Just a note to other readers.

I managed to get a perm ban on ebaums. Harsh on the perm, i made a mistake, it happens. I didn't read the rules, my bad, my mistake - taken on the chin. Even still if someone with an once of common sense read my post they should (in an ideal world) understand. It wasn't a "pomfg l00k @ my site" thread at all....

So advice: easy on ebaums posting.....Don't make my mistake read the rules...

Oh, and can I just say WOW

I've never used or understood digg.....Monster traffic! Well, 300 visits in as many seconds!

(If you're feeling generous Feel free to give me a digg http://digg.com/links/Flight_deaths_database._It_s_NOT_safe_to_fly)

ebaums ain't worth anything. And if you have followed the ytmnd vs ebaums you'll understand that if you did good stuff, it's most likely to be stolen...
