Where are other places to get backlinks, besides Forums, Blogs, Social Bookmarks, and RSS feeds?

Also, anyone know of any good software for analyzing competitor backlinks?

Write professional articles, submit to top article directories.
Depending on how popular the article gets, it will/can spread to all the lists you mentioned without your aid, if the article is written right.
The more popular it is the more backlinks it will gain, therefore in return more traffic for you.
This becomes automatic, and backlinks are generated naturally. (Natural backlinks are the best way to go, in link building)
And this can be repeated as many times as you wish, more articles/links more backlinks creating naturally more traffic.

You could also try, making a youtube video, in the description box and in the video have links to your website.

 

I absolutly agree with grant, but you can also continue with directories. For the software I usually use backlink watch (http://www dot backlink dot com)

I am very recommend the method of article marketing. It is the best for me now, soon and forever.But make sure you submit useful and informative articles not rubbish one.The quality is more important than quantity

Please check first your On-page Optimization before working your Off-page. It is A vital part of SEO.

 

I agree with Liza, checking the on-page SEO is the first step before looking off-site. From there, I really recommend article submissions like the others have said.
